Comic book illustrator, passionate by pencil strokes and new technologies.
Jean-Michel regularly has to handle the choice of the characters for the scenarios he’s presented with. He often works for many art directors at the same time. For that, he makes many sketches and would like to have some feedback from the art directors when submitting his different ideas.
Most of the time, he imagines the characters by himself. He must be creative and reactive to provide many sketches of every character of the comic book to the art directors to get as close as possible to the characters of the story.
How can he submit his different sketches to every art director?
First, he makes sketches with a creation software or with a graphic tablet, then he turns them into PDF file and emails them to the customer. The problematic with this operating mode is that the art director receives hundreds emails every day, so they may miss Jean-Michel’s.
Jean-Michel sends several sketches at a time to his art director. The latter has to open the PDF files one by one, then visualize them carefully to annotate the different adjustment requests for Jean-Michel. After commenting the sketches, the art director has to send them back.
All this results in a waste of time, and time is extremely precious.
To address this issue, there are conference call tools, which is good since Jean-Michel likes new technologies. With these tools, he must set a time for the meeting to exchange with his art director, which isn’t easy considering everyone’s planning.
This conference call would have allow him to avoid visiting his customer. This saves him the many hours of travel to go to his office. All this underlines again the importance of not wasting time. Jean- Michel cares a lot about being reactive and interacting well with his customers.
It would be great to have a good management of the comments, and to allow the art director to edit the submitted comments as much as he wants, wherever he is without taking up Jean-Michel’s time.
Jean-Michel’s expectations would be being able to see the annotations on every sketch, and know the modifications to make in real time. He would like to have a simple and efficient tool, so that he can address his issues while gaining reactivity, efficiency and interactivity.
